Sergio Ermotti, who became UBS’s third chief executive in four years after Oswald Grübel resigned from the under-fire bank on Saturday morning, comes with a broad wealth of experience in various senior investment banking roles.

He will need to draw on this to maintain client confidence and appease regulators after the Swiss bank suffered a $2.3bn trading loss from an alleged rogue trader.
