Mercury makes hedge fund debut

Mercury is set to market its first ever hedge fund as a stream of star managers from other firms, including Chris Poil, ex-Baring Asset Management, and Nick Train, formerly of M&G, prepare to enter the sector.

Their planned entry comes hard on the heels of failure for George Soros' and Julian Robertson's former macro-driven strategies. But the new funds will be far smaller and rely on different techniques led by younger people.
