Law firm Ropes & Gray has hired a new partner for its London private equity team to target an expected spate of distressed property portfolios

Law firm Ropes & Gray has appointed a private equity real estate lawyer to build its presence in the sector as it becomes the latest firm to predict an upsurge in distressed property deals this year.

Iain Morpeth, formerly of corporate finance adviser Oppenheimer Investments, joined the firm's London office on January 3 as partner.
