Merrill Lynch slashes 200 private banking jobs

Merrill Lynch has cut approximately 200 jobs in its international private banking unit.

The job cuts are in the Europe, Middle East and Africa team in a response to slowing business, representing nearly 10% of the workforce for the region, according to a source close to the firm. In the UK only a handful of jobs are expected to go.
