Private banks recruit for Middle East wealth grab

Merrill Lynch and UBS have both bolstered their teams of private bankers serving the region's super rich this week

Merrill Lynch Wealth Management has hired a 32-year private banking veteran to bolster its London-based Middle East wealth team, just a day after rival UBS recruited a head of wealth management for Saudi Arabia.

Two of the largest wealth managers have bolstered their businesses for high-net worth clients in the Middle East, where the number of wealthy individuals has returned to pre-crisis levels.
