Merrill Lynch has hired a senior banker from Dutch bank ING to lead the expansion of the US investment bank's leveraged finance business in the Asia Pacific region.

Ajay Sawhney joins Merrill as head of Asia leveraged finance origination, with responsibility for orchestrating and executing leveraged and acquisition finance deals for private equity investors and companies in the region.
