MetLife gauges interest in $5bn apartment complex

Insurer MetLife is considering selling its Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village apartments in New York in a deal that could fetch as much as $5bn (€4bn).

The firm confirmed that it is considering the sale, which has attracted interest from private equity groups, pension funds and investment banks, as well as prominent real estate families and firms. Industry sources suggest bids for the apartments may reach $5bn.
