Massachusetts Financial Services (MFS) has raised $152m (€167m) in one month for its first alternative investment fund.

Run by Brian Stack, the MFS Meridian Vertex Long/Short fund opened for business, and closed, in June. The Cayman Island-based fund, part of MFS' Meridian group of funds, was distributed via the Merrill Lynch system to offshore high net worth individuals.
