MMC Capital, the private equity arm of US financial services giant Marsh & McLennan, has made Garrett Moran its president and senior principal one month after Stephen Friedman quit to become economic adviser to the US government.

President George W Bush appointed Friedman as his economic adviser in December, after firing Larry Lindsey.
