Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has called in JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs to sell its entire stake in Italian carmaker Fiat, handing Goldman its first equities capital markets mandate since the bank floated in 1999.
Monte dei Paschi, the world's oldest bank, said in a statement it had sold 29 million Fiat shares, or 2.7% of the carmaker's capital, through a block trade after the market close in Milan.
