The management of troubled lender Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena is set to meet officials at the eurozone banking regulator in Frankfurt, as Italy’s government crisis threatens to derail the bank’s recapitalisation plans.
A person familiar with the matter said chief executive Marco Morelli and Chief Financial Officer Francesco Mele will meet officials at the Single Supervisory Mechanism, the eurozone's banks supervisor, on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of the Tuscan bank's €5 billion ($5.38 billion) capital increase.
