Morgan Stanley has promoted London-based veteran Robert Rooney to global co-head of fixed income sales and trading alongside a US colleague, following the departure of the previous head and a tough first quarter for the unit in which revenues fell more than 40% year-on-year.

The US bank announced yesterday that Ken deRegt, its head of fixed income, would leave the firm and be replaced by Michael Heaney and Rooney.
