Morgan Stanley has hired a veteran private equity banker for a new position as chairman of the European financial sponsors group and co-head of global leveraged and acquisition finance.

Peter Bacon will join Morgan Stanley's London office from September and will report jointly to Christopher Carter, vice chairman of institutional securities and head of global capital markets, and Franck Petitgas, head of European investment banking.
