Morgan Stanley’s top mergers and acquisitions banker has died after suffering a heart attack while working at the Wall Street bank’s London office last week. Gavin MacDonald, who spent his entire 25-year career at the bank, died on Friday evening.

A Cambridge University rugby blue, MacDonald joined Morgan Stanley as a financial analyst straight after graduating in 1983. He was one of the founding members of the bank's European M&A team, becoming managing director in 1997 and vice chairman of investment banking four years ago.
