Morgan Stanley, gripped in an intense battle for power, moved swiftly yesterday to plug the top banking gaps left by the departures of Joe Perella and Terry Meguid.

Stepping up immediately as co-heads of investment banking are Michael Uva, previously head of European investment banking, and Cordell Spencer, deputy head of worldwide investment banking.
