Morgan Stanley beats target for $500m secondaries fund

US bank beats its target for its latest secondaries fund following a rise in deals for second-hand private equity assets and a record year for fundraising

US bank Morgan Stanley has raised its second fund this year to target second-hand private equity investments, as deal activity in the secondaries sector picks up following an unexpected fall in 2009.

Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, an asset management arm at the bank, beat its $500m (€402m) target for its Morgan Stanley Global Secondary Opportunities fund, according to a statement.
