Energias de Portugal, the electricity firm, has launched its €1.2bn ($1.6bn) rights issue at a 23.3% discount in what will be the largest new issue in Portugal for four years.
The group announced its intention to do a rights issue three months ago after increasing its stake in Hidroeléctrica del Cantábrico, the Spanish energy group, by 56% to 95.7%.
