Morley Fund Management profit down 83% in 2002

Morley Fund Management's overall operating profit plunged nearly 83% as the investment house struggled to cope with the sustained fall in world investment markets, sparking renewed speculation about the firm's future.

Preliminary results released by Aviva, the UK insurer that owns Morley, revealed that its fund management operations had contributed only £5m (€7.3m) to operating profit in 2002, down from £29m the year before.
