MTS, the electronic trading platform for government paper, has boosted its presence in Irish Government bonds after signing up Barclays Capital and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney (SSSB) as market makers to its MTS Ireland trading facility.

MTS introduced Irish Government paper to its electronic trading network in July and has since seen daily turnover volumes peak at 195 million. This addition completed the network's coverage of all Eurozone countries.
