Nasdaq recruits new risk chief from Hong Kong exchange

Roland Chai said Nasdaq’s shift towards selling its tech to others was one reason he signed up

Nasdaq, the US-based exchange group, said it has recruited Roland Chai, a senior exec from the Hong Kong stock exchange who also sat on the board of London’s LME Clear, as its new chief risk officer.

Chai, who was most recently head of HKEX’s post-trade division, overseeing clearing and risk management, will take up his new role on 1 June and will be based in Stockholm, where Nasdaq has substantial operations thanks to its ownership of Nordic stock-exchange operator OMX.
