Constantinos Kyriakopoulos, former executive director and general manager of Alpha Bank, is to head the new investment banking unit of National Bank of Greece (NBG).

Last month's merger of NBG and Alpha Bank, Greece's number one and number two retail banks respectively, has created a regional powerhouse. The corporate and investment banking unit will be the largest of its kind in the country. The merger has taken the NBG name.
