New competition law sparks fears over Parmalat

The Italian public prosecutor's investigation into the bankruptcy of dairy giant Parmalat is reportedly under threat by a decree the Italian government is hoping to pass into law.

The government's proposed competition law includes an amendment, inserted by the finance commission for the Italian Senate, which proposes that the time allowed for investigation into corporate bankruptcy should be halved to less than four years.
