News in brief: Bear Stearns appoints fixed income co-heads

Jeffrey Mayer and Craig Overlander have been named as co-heads of fixed income at Bear Stearns.

Mayer and Overlander will oversee all aspects of the fixed income business and will report to Warren Spector, president and co-chief operating officer. Mayer joined the bank in 1989 as a senior mortgage trader. He is currently head of the mortgage and asset-backed securities department. Overlander began his tenure at Bear Stearns in 1982 as a fixed income salesperson and is now global head of institutional fixed income sales.
