News in brief: Euro corporate bond market booms

Corporate bond volumes matched bank issuance in the second quarter for the first time and continues to be well ahead of international dollar-denominated issuance.

Data from Schroder Salomon Smith Barney shows that while issue volumes in dollars and euros dropped in the second quarter by 12% and 20%, respectively, private corporate issuance continued to rise and was one fifth higher than corresponding dollar volumes.
