Newton Investment Management, the UK asset management subsidiary of Bank of New York Mellon, has hired a fund manager from mining company Rio Tinto's pension fund investment team.

Alex O'Reilly has joined Newton's global equities team, where he will principally work alongside Alex Stanic, the lead manager of the firm's unconstrained global equity portfolios.
