Michael Spencer's NEX Group pulled a planned resolution seeking shareholder approval to make political donations of up to £100,000 at the eleventh hour after the furore over its support for Conservative candidates in June's general election.

At the trading and technology firm's annual general meeting yesterday, shareholders had been due to vote on whether to give the company and its subsidiaries the authority to make donations up to an aggregate £100,000 between now and the next AGM.
