The £206m pension scheme of UK retailer Next has dropped Mercer Investment Consulting as its consultant and actuary after 53 years and hired Watson Wyatt.

This is the first change of actuaries for the scheme since it was set up in 1951 by J Hepworth & Son, which changed its name to Next in 1986.
