Asset managers are piling pressure on Ireland’s financial regulator to help solve a problem that could paralyse most of Europe’s $800bn exchange traded funds market, if the UK leaves the EU next year without a deal.

The issue relates to settlement — the admin process by which securities are transferred, usually electronically, to investors after a buy or sell transaction has taken place.
