Nomura eyes Code Securities

Japanese investment bank Nomura confirmed today that it is considering buying UK biotech and pharmaceuticals investment banking boutique Code Securities. It hopes to stem client losses after suffering defections from its biotech team to US firm Piper Jaffray this summer.

A Nomura spokesperson said: "We obviously aim to rebuild coverage of our life sciences franchise. We are looking at a number of options and one of those is Code Securities."
