North West, Midlands and West Yorkshire hit with further restrictions as virus cases surge

Residents have been banned from socialising with people from other households and advised to only use public transport for essential purposes, such as travelling to school or work

The UK government has announced tighter restrictions on parts of the North West, the Midlands and West Yorkshire as coronavirus cases increase rapidly in the regions.

Liverpool, Blackburn and Wolverhampton are among the towns and cities affected by the new regulations.
