Morgan Stanley fined a record $19m

The New York Stock Exchange, which faces action from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the US regulator, over member supervision failures, has fined firms $20.375m (€16.56m) - almost as much this month as it did in the whole of last year.

In 2004 the NYSE imposed a total of $25.4m in disciplinary fines, excluding joint enforcement actions.
