NYSE moves to list blank cheque vehicles

NYSE Euronext has asked regulators to allow US-based special purpose acquisition companies—popular among investors seeking to capitalise on buyouts—to begin listing on the exchange two weeks after the Nasdaq Stock Market made the same request.

Acquisition companies, also known as Spacs or “blank cheque” vehicles, raise money through initial public offerings with the intent only to buy or merge with other companies.
