Oil and M&A bankers reap biggest bonuses

Mergers and acquisition bankers and oil traders are winning the largest bonuses on the back of record profits at the largest US securities firms last year.

Alan Johnson, president of compensation consulting firm Johnson Associates, told news agency Bloomberg that senior M&A specialists may see raises of up to 25%, bringing their average total annual compensation to $900,000 (€693,179).
