The majority of trading volumes on the Neuer Markt, Europe's largest market for technology stocks, are still being executed on the old Frankfurt Stock Exchange floor - in much the same way which stocks have been traded for decades.
The fact that over 50% of Neuer Markt volumes are still trading on the floor and not on Xetra, Deutsche Börse's electronic trading system, is an acute embarrassment for Deutsche Börse. The Neuer Markt has been one of Deutsche Börse's big marketing and business successes in recent years. That investors and traders prefer to trade on the floor in Neuer Markt stocks raises questions over why they prefer not to use Xetra.
