Krishna Patel, chief executive of HSBC's securities business, has been made chairman of the global investment banking division, which comprises the corporate finance and securities businesses.

Patel will take over the chairmanship of the executive committee from Stephen Green. Stuart Gulliver, group general manager and chief executive of the Asian business, and Didier Stoessel, chief executive of global corporate finance, are also on the committee.
