Paul Myners, the former chairman of Gartmore Investment Management and author of last year's UK government-sponsored Review of Institutional Investment, has joined Bank of New York as a non-executive director.

Myners said he would be seeking to build up his portfolio of non-executive directorships following his departure from Gartmore and the fund management industry at the end of last year. This is his first major appointment since then.
