Philip Green, chief operating officer and executive director at Reuters, is to leave the company at the end of this month.

The role of chief operating officer, which was created by chief executive Tom Glocer and filled by Green in 2001, will no longer exist, according to a Reuters spokeswoman. As chief operating officer, Green oversaw the customer segments, the "centres of excellence" and sales channels.
