Phoenix boss to step down from FTSE 100 firm after nine years

Clive Bannister was responsible for the £3.2bn acquisition of Standard Life Aberdeen's insurance business

The chief executive of Phoenix Group, which bought Standard Life Aberdeen’s insurance business in 2018, is to step down after nine years at the specialist insurer.

Clive Bannister, who was responsible for the £3.2bn acquisition, will retire from Phoenix on March 10, 2020 and will be succeeded by Andy Briggs, the former chief executive of Friends Life, the listed insurer.
