Pressure builds on Nymex as ICE wins bidding war

The New York Mercantile Exchange, the US energy market that yesterday said it was in merger talks with unidentified third parties, came under increased pressure last night as it lost a bidding war for a Canadian exchange to its main rival.

The IntercontinentalExchange said last night the shareholders of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange had approved ICE's C$50m ($35m) merger plan.
