A group of senior buyout executives predict that the private equity industry will continue its rapid expansion at the expense of the public markets.

“There is no reason why the value of PE-owned companies should not be as big as the combined market capitalization of public markets,” Lennart Blecher, deputy managing partner at global buyout shop EQT Partners, said during a panel Wednesday at the SuperReturn conference in Berlin.
