Private equity firms avoid UK deals as political turmoil drags on

The slowdown is not expected to last long, as investors feel the pressure to invest $1tn in unspent capital

Private equity firms have scaled back deals in the UK amid uncertainties surrounding the approaching deadline for the country to leave the European Union.

Private equity firms made 202 acquisitions valued at €24.5bn in the UK in 2018, down from €40bn spread over 215 companies acquired a year earlier, according to data provider Dealogic.
