Private equity firms set record pace for European dealmaking

Carlyle and GIC are among global investors that have spent more than $170bn in deals across the continent in 2018

Private equity firms have spent more on European investments in 2018 than in any year since before the global financial crisis.

Buyout houses bought 655 companies worth a combined $170bn across Europe in the year up to Dec. 10, the most since 2007, according to data provider Dealogic.
