Sports clubs are technology hybrids, commercial platforms, media companies and data-driven consumer enterprises. Just don’t call them teams anymore.

That’s the view of one of the most influential figures in private equity sports investment, who is calling for a rethink of the language used since time immemorial by fans and owners to describe the clubs they support.
