Independent Franchise Partners took three months to establish and now is on the brink of looking after $1bn (€700m) in assets.

After running the global and US strategies focused on companies with a strong franchise for nine years at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the team, led by Hassan Elmasry, has convinced significant investors to place money with the boutique, which launched last month.
