Borsa Italiana, the operator of the Italian stock exchange, has reported steady profits for 2001 despite a year of low volumes in the equity markets.
The exchange's profits were €34m ($30m) in 2001, in comparison to €33.8m in the previous year. Revenues increased by 5.6% from 2000 to €140.4m. The biggest increase came from data vending which increased from 15% to 25% of revenues. Transaction fees fell from 63% to 52% of revenues due to lower volumes while listing fees remained flat at 23%.
