Profits slump almost a third

PwC says larger players have been caught on the ropes,

UK investment managers have seen overall levels of profitability fall by almost a third last year, according to auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Overall profitability among institutional houses fell from 33% to 23% in 2001, with retail managers' profitability being cut almost in half, from 42% to 24%.
