Five years after the Scottish people rejected independence, an Edinburgh-based businessman has commissioned a bell to ring ahead of starting what he hopes will be Caledonia’s first stock exchange since the early 1970s.

The 2014 referendum was meant to settle the Scottish independence debate for a generation. Barely two years later, Britain voted to leave the EU.
