Prudential has appointed Roberto Mendoza, who stepped down from JP Morgan in April, as non-executive chairman of Egg, the firm's online banking unit.

As a vice-chairman at JP Morgan, Mendoza managed some of the bank's most important clients, while not having a direct responsibility for any particular business. Most recently, he helped advise NatWest on its rival takeover bids from two Scottish banks.
