The head of the Prudential's main US subsidiary, Bob Saltzman, is almost certainly paid more than his boss Jonathan Bloomer, the chief executive of the overall group.

The Pru paid Saltzman, chief executive of Jackson National Life, and five UK executives below board level nearly £5.7m (€9.12m) last year, according to documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with last week's £200m Wall Street share listing.
