RBC earmarks $500m for Enron claims

Royal Bank of Canada, the Toronto-based financial services firm, is to establish a litigation reserve of $500m (€417m) to cover costs related to lawsuits brought against it over the collapse of Enron, the energy company.

RBC has been named in several lawsuits related to Houston-based Enron, which filed for bankruptcy in 2001 with more than $25bn in debt.
